WHAT'S READIN'? - "YOUR NAME'S MUD"

CHARLTON HESTON  1924-2008

In just our first couple of monthes on the air, The Chuck’s already been a favorite of the Rocket Blog.

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS

We showcased some  TV commercials  for THE PLANET OF THE APES action figures

and had a link to downloadable articles from The Monster Times

IN DEFENSE OF ‘THE CHUCK’

I had to stick up for my gun-loving main-man when checking out the new EL CID DVD

HOLLYWOOD'S TET OFFENSIVE

The Chucks’s horrible flick SKYJACKED helped kick of our piece on Crazy Vietnam Vet flicks.

And lots of tributes all over the web today....

I enjoyed this morning's piece in The LA Times.

The Sheila Variations has a fantastic tribute which inclueds a letter about The Chuck written by.... Richard Dreyfuss.

The Moving Picture Blog had a good look back.

Movie City Indie has a cool page of clips.

The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw points out some tidbits.

The Onion’s AV CLUB has one good, writing on The Chuck.

And as to be expected the NY Times has a dull obit that's mostly was about his involvement with the NRA and not his great acting career. It's had to be corrected and rewritten a few time already today.

But then the great MANOHLA DARGIS stepped in and added an appraisal of his work.

She’s terrific.

Though no one seems to mention The Private War of Major Benson (1955)I wanna know when is that gonna come out on DVD?

And back in 2001 Jessica Winter wrote a fun piece for the Village Voice  Shock the Monkey Gorillas in Our Midst.

Rest in peace or whatever, you big hairy chested he-man, you.

You're the kinda dude I still hope to be like when I grow up.

I'd like to ride a round around the Forbidden Zone with Nova, you luck-out.
